5.1. Methodological overview

The learning process that is designed for this subject is based on the following:

 

We propose an active methodology: from both of them the student and the teacher.

 

Students must go to class, this is fundamental to the overcoming of the subject. The students must also submit also their work (result of the work in class make out of the class) within the deadlines.

 

The teacher will present the subject. Then, each student must adapt these proposals to their interests, expectations and personal criteria criterio.

 

The structure will be: Proposal- information- development- analysis

 

The teacher will make a theoretical introduction (lecture masterclass) supported by images (expository classes) and a list of reference sources that students must consult.

 

Each student must make one or moretwo dimensional and three dimensional sketches before their definite work  previously the definitive work, mustmake, one or more sketches (autonomous student work, supervised work in the classroom by the teacher). two-dimensional and three-dimensional that This will facilitate the definitive execution of the work.

 

The development of the contents of the subject must be strengthened by the student. Students are encouraged to visit must see exhibitions, they must visit artists'studios, art fairs, etc. (autonomous student activity). They must submit a report or personal summary of these activities.

 

We pretend that the student conceives the subject as comprehensive process learning from the teacher proposals until the final materialization of work. When students submit sketches, notes, reflections, bibliography, images and other elements, they will combine in a final report (DIN A4 format) with all exercises finished, for evaluation or, as portfolio at the end of the course.

 

Once completed the exercise, each student must presents his exercise to the rest of another students (presentation and individual defense). Projects done in groups will also be presented and defended. The students have has to develop the ability to communicate, explain in an orderly and consistent manner work, favouring debate and critical sense in the class group.

5.3. Syllabus

Prevention of occupational hazards (safety in the classroom).

 

1. The mimesis goes to conceptualizing. Evolution of treatment of the human body in sculptural language (from Prehistory to the twentieth-first century)..

 

  • Frame modeling.
  • Written work of a sculptor more notes.

 

2. The beginnings of modern sculpture, new artistic behaviors of the twentieth century.

 

  • Elaboration of a sculpture with the technique of artistic construction.
  • Students do teamwork. The sculptor (twentieth century) of this work will be chosen by students (presentation).

 

3. Reproductions (emptied) and finishes (patinas).

 

4. Introduction into the methodology of the project. The sculptural relief.

 

5. The transformation of Spanish sculpture in the first half of the twentieth century (presentation of an individual work and self-evaluation of the work).

 

  • Students visit museums of contemporary art and participated in seminars organized by the university and other institutions.
  • Presentation a work on a Spanish sculptor of the first half of the twentieth century. The students do teamwork.

 

6. Subtractive processes (stone carving). Creation, sculptural techniques and materials.

 

  • Students present a topic and a working proposal.. Students do development work (outside of class) and then they do the work in the workshops of the university.

 

7. News and sculpture from the 80. Research and sharing groups.

 

8. Students must do individual work, with a free theme.

 

  • Elaboration of the project. Realization of work (must be completed).
  • Presentation of the project and the finished work. The student must defend their project in the classroom.
